As a part of our preparations for CJ2013 the troop has been working on their outdoor skills badge. This day hike fulfills two of the requirements for this badge. One of which is a long distance day hike, the second being an environmental project.
Conservation Halton currently has a program in effect where they will plant a tree for every 10000 steps made on a hike. With full participation of our troop we should be able to earn a tree every 10 minutes of hiking time. Planting trees will increase forest cover in the watershed and reduce global warming. The more steps you take, the better your health and the health of our ecosystem.

In order to meet the requirements of our outdoors badge we will need an early start to the day to ensure we cover the required distance. Scouts should bring their own lunch and an ample supply of drinking water. Dress appropriate for wet conditions and low temperatures. Adequate footwear is also a must.
Start time 7:30am – Meet at SJR Church – Parent volunteers will be required for car pooling drop off and pickup in Milton. Rides will be coordinated when we meet at the church. Parent participation on the hike is also welcome! This early start time in the day is what we will be expected to do during CJ.
Pickup time 2:00pm at parking lot on 6th line.
