Scouts to Flight Center

We have arranged to visit the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre. We will learn how air makes planes fly and see some small planes up close. You may even get to sit in one!

We will car pool from the church, leaving at 6:15

Our program starts at 6:30 and runs until 8:30. With a little flex time and travel time back to the church we should be back shortly before 9.

Full uniforms Required!

Scouts – Bullying Workshop

Hi folks. We have the opportunity to participate in the “Don’t just stand there” workshop on bullying as a Troop. This is work shop that is being facilitated by our sponsor as a community outreach project. You will find the details of this workshop by following the link on the 24th.ca home page.

Your leaders felt that this was an opportunity of good value to all of us so we have switched our Jan 23rd meeting to Tues., Jan. 24th to coincide with the event. The program starts at 7pm so please be present shortly before that so we are not interrupting the beginning of the event.

This is a FULL UNIFORM EVENT.

To get the most out of this program we strongly encourage a parent attend this session with each Scout. Attnedance is highly encouraged. Please feel free to bring other siblings/spouse along as well.

Everton Scout Camp

Cost $30.00

When	Meet in the Church Parking Lot @6:00pm on Friday, January 20 Departing the camp parking lot at… 12:00 noon on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.Allow 45 min – 1 hr travel time.
Where	Everton Scout Camp. Lions Lodge. Drop off at Scout Entrance(lower). Pickup at Scout camp Entrance. Click here for Map (if you zoom in to the map you can see the camp entrances and cabin locations)
Transportation	We will be carpooling from the church parking lot if we have enough drivers (If there are not enough drivers each Scout will be responsible for their own transportation. We will post the status of driver volunteers on Wednesday evening)
What You need	Printable packing list Here
Accommodations	We have a heated cabin and an adirondak (3-sided log shelter with steel roof and straw floor.) We encourage each youth to come prepared to sleep out in the Adirondak at least one night as this will complete several badge requirements. Toilets are of the outback ‘KYBO’ type. See photos below.
Meals	Eat at home before coming to camp on Friday night. A snack will be provided before leaving the camp on Sunday. Youth will share the cooking of meals. No food is to be brought to camp by any youth.
Medications	Absolutely all medications must -be in the original container. -have explicit directions and boys’ name on the container. -not be packed in the boys’ gear. -be given directly to the LEADER by the PARENT on arrival at the church.
Parent/Guardian	You are welcome to join with us for this weekend. We will have adequate heated cabin accommodations but please indicate your participation on the sign up form.

Troop to Train Club

We are going to visit a Model train club Monday, Dec. 5.
We will see a huge small scale train layout and be able to see it working.
The club is located in the basement of Trinity Health Care village on Kingsway Drive between Franklin Street and Fairview Mall.
We will meet at SJRUC in time to depart at 6:45 and return at 8:45.
We will need a few drivers to get us there and back to the church. Any drivers that want to stay and see this most amazing miniature display are most welcome to join us.
No cost but full uniforms are required.

We will be hiking part of the Walter Bean Trail.

Start Location: Meet at Victoria Street just past the rail bridge but before it crosses the Grand River as you head towards Breslau. Turn left on Shirley Ave. and into the Parking Lot on your immediate right.

Start Time: 6:45

Pickup time: 8:45

Pick up Location: Tim Hortons on Victoria near River Rd.

What to bring:
Dress for the weather
Bring a small Flashlight
Water Bottle
Uniform shirts and neckers ARE required.

Troop November Camp

RattleSnake Point is a part of Conservation Halton

Date: November 4 – 6, 2011.

Location: Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area

Departure: Meet at SJRUC at 6:00pm

Return: Departing camp at 12 noon. ETA back at church – 1 pm.

Uniform: Shirts and neckers to be worn at departure.

Activities: Bruce Trail Hiking, caves, interesting Cooking techniques.

We will require drivers for the trip to camp and the trip home.

Cost: $50.00 payment due on or before beginning of our meeting on Tuesday, November 1st.

We need each Scout to gather a few items…

	48 oz tin juice can.	1 required Rinse the can out well. Leave both ends in the can. BRING THIS CAN WITH YOU TO OUR OCT 17 meeting IF POSSIBLE.
	Tuna can or similar	1 Required Wash out, remove top. BRING THIS CAN WITH YOU TO OUR OCT 17 meeting IF POSSIBLE.
	Milk Bag/Bladder	2 required Wash out well Bring to our Meeting on Tuesday, Nov 1st.
	Camp soup!	We will provide the turkey broth and meat. Each camper is asked to provide approx. 3 cups of something to add into the soup. Remember that we will all be eating this soup (NO Peanut products) Your contribution needs to be washed clean, chopped/diced or sliced ready to go into the soup. Your contribution should be packaged in a baggie or washed out milk bladder bag. Bring this to Scouts on Tuesday if possible. (if Tuesday is not possible freeze it and bring on Friday.) Parents – the object here is that your Scouts should be preparing this – not you.

Troop – Strom’s Corn Maze 2011

We will be going to Strom’s on Oct 24th.

Parents and siblings are welcome.

Meet at church at 6:20 pm October 24th.

Do the maze, enjoy a campfire and snack afterwards.

Cost: $10 per person – please try to bring to Oct 17th meeting.

Troop Investitures & Cook-Out 2011

Camp Mohawk

Cook Out and Investiture.

We will be cooking our supper over the fire so Scouts, don’t eat before you come.
We will also be investing our new Scouts. The investiture ceremony will take place at 8:15.
All parents, but especially those that have youth being invested, are welcome to witness the ceremony at 8:15.

Scouts will meet at the church at 6:15 to car pool to Mohawk. (Volunteers required)

Full Uniforms are required for all but make sure that you have a jacket as it will likely be cool.

What to bring?
-a mug
-a spoon New
-a small flashlight
-a camp chair
Parents might want a camera and a mug too.

Weather??? New
Our meeting will proceed rain or shine so be prepared to be outside, with your uniform underneath appropriate outerwear, regardless of the weather. If it is really foul at 6:15pm, your leadership team will decide whether we change the location to the church. Please remember that Scouts do “Camp in the Rain”.
